Sacraments

Picking up with significantly more detail from the Tradition: Church History and Dogma with regards to the Sacraments, this presentation by Greg Kozak describes the core way in which God engages his people as a community. Building upon the Catholic understanding of the created world as good, Sacraments leverage created reality (the simple things of this earth) to bring us in touch with uncreated reality (God). With an understanding of how Catholic sacraments have their roots in Jewish liturgy and the practices of the Hebrew people, it explores how symbols make present that which they represent yet remain distinct from them. It explains sacraments from a traditional Church perspective which focuses on the thought of Thomas Aquinas and the Council of Trent. It also goes on to explain them from a contemporary perspective, focusing not just on the things present in a sacrament, but how the flow of the Liturgy and the assembly of God’s people add an essential extra dimension.
