Scripture: Overview

A high level overview of Scriptures and how they came to be put together in the form we are familiar with today. This talk by Greg Kozak discusses what we mean when we say that the writers of the Scripture were “inspired by God”; how books got selected to be part of the Scriptures; how certain translations of the Bible became more popular than others; the positive impact of the Protestant Reformation on Biblical translations; the state of modern Biblical studies; the basic tenets of Catholic belief around Scriptures; a brief description of all of the books of the Bible; and finally, 2 examples of how to study and pray the scriptures, including an examination of scholarly perspectives on a particularly difficult passage in Luke.
